What is Cooma Off-Road Club? Enthusiasm for off-road buggy and dirt bike racing in the Snowy Mountains and Monaro region saw the beginning of the Cooma Off-Road Club (CORC) in the late 1970’s. The interest in buggy racing waned early with the Club’s dirt bike interest coming to the fore in the mid 1980s. The family based club continues to grow in its fervor for off-road motorcycle competition and runs an array of competitive local and national events that draw competitors from far and wide. One of the bigger draw cards for CORC over the past few years has been the Amcross series. In 1999 and 2000 the Club hosted Senior Amcross rounds at Bredbo bringing a huge line up at the start gates. In 2005 things got more exciting for the Club as the Amcross event was held closer to home at Ti-Tree (Cooma Racecourse) for the first time. The CORC Committee and Members are hoping this year’s Amcross event at Ti-Tree will be bigger still. Each year CORC holds approximately eight local rounds of moto-x and enduro at the Club’s Carlaminda complex and grass track racing at Colinton, just north of Bredbo, which has proved to very popular amongst riders across NSW and Victoria. Our main moto-x track and enduro circuit is at Carlaminda, which has had some recent renovations including flushing toilets, enclosed scorers shed and other amenities. This has been made possible by generous sponsorship by local and not so local businesses and people riding at our track. CORC is a club run by volunteers and funded by race days and canteen facilities, all of which goes back into the club for further track renovations and facilities for our members and guests. The club has over 350 members, who all contribute in different ways to making the club what it is today. Each race meeting we run a canteen with BBQ, drinks, snacks, including a breakfast menu. We invite you to come and try out our club. We’re sure you’ll have a great time! So drop in and say g’day, we’d love to see you |
